It's no secret that counselling and any form of therapy is not easy. Just like a surgeon does when their patients are sick, they need to open them up in order to see where the problem lies. The same is for counselling, we need to open up in order to heal. It is in the uncomfortableness we find growth and healing.
In life the only thing guaranteed is change. Just like the heartbeat on a heartrate monitor, there are ups and there are downs. If it went smooth and straight, you'd be dead. Embracing life's ups and downs sometimes involves asking for help or talking about it. As counsellors we are here to help you deal with the ups and downs, hard decisions or even making the most of exciting times.
When our feelings and emotions are dismissed as a child, by others or even by ourselves, our brain receives signals that the world is an unsafe place. By becoming emotionally aware and mindful you become aware of the world around you and the people around you. It's important to learn how to coexist with all the parts of you, save room for your dignity and your shame, save room for your creative side as well as your fear. Don't try take any parts of you away because these are what make you human
Thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body. How you think and how you feel creates your state of being, So when you feel anxious, your mind will generate anxious thoughts
